Guide to Community-First Funder Collaboratives

The San Joaquin Valley Health Fund is a “community-first” collaborative that leverages the investments of multiple funders while prioritizing the voices of local communities. Established in 2014 and managed by The Center at Sierra Health Foundation, the Fund has invested more than $6 million in local organizations working to promote health equity for all. Working with the Fund, The Center at Sierra Health Foundation, Sierra Health Foundation, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, we developed this guide to offer insights and practical steps to apply and adapt the Fund’s model to support community-led movements in regions across the United States.
