San Francisco’s Assisted Outpatient Treatment Program: 2017 Annual Report

Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT), also known as “Laura’s Law,” programs allow professionals and family members to engage people who need, but are not accessing, treatment for mental illness. Harder+Company has worked with the San Francisco Department of Public Health for the past two years to evaluate their AOT program, which is helping participants stop cycling through acute services and incarceration.  This 2017 Annual Report (required by San Francisco Board of Supervisors and the State of California) examines the effectiveness and cost of the AOT program, including both quantitative (e.g., numbers of people served, demographics of population) and qualitative (e.g., family and participant satisfaction with services provided) data.
