As a Vice President at Harder+Company, Maricela provides research direction and oversight to project teams in our Northern California offices and contributes to firm-wide business planning, strategy, and management. She also leads our firm’s culturally-based consulting workgroup, providing guidance on how best to engage communities and organizations in ways that are culturally responsive and advance social equity.
Maricela has more than a decade of experience leading evaluations and needs assessments for nonprofit, public and private organizations. She has an extensive background developing and implementing a wide range of culturally appropriate research methods including community-based participatory approaches. She offers particular experience working with Latino communities and directing large-scale and multi-year evaluations, especially in the fields of early childhood and public health. Maricela has a strong background in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, with extensive experience in primary data collection in both English and Spanish. She is fluent in Spanish.
Before joining Harder+Company in 2003, Maricela worked at the Latino Mental Health Research Program at the University of California, San Francisco. Maricela enjoys cooking traditional Mexican cuisine, as well as incorporating flavors from other cultures to create unique dishes.
