Lauren Stein

Research Associate

Lauren’s motivation to improve health in low-income communities is driven by her experience working with and for vulnerable populations. Lauren brings strong quantitative and qualitative methods to her work at Harder+Company, including: primary/secondary data collection; data management and statistical analysis; content analysis; SWOT analysis and Health Impact Assessments. She also has a deep understanding of the complex impacts of social factors on health with an educational background in epidemiology and biostatistics.

Prior to joining Harder+Company, Lauren was a researcher at the Center for Environmental Research and Children’s Health (CERCH) at the University of California Berkeley where she managed survey data collection for a multi-year cohort study. Lauren also composed community assessments for Best Babies Zone, an initiative to improve birth and health outcomes in three cities. Prior to that, Lauren served as an analyst for Public Health Solutions, and worked closely with children and their families as a special education paraprofessional in Brookline, Massachusetts. As a native New Yorker, Lauren enjoys being outdoors and exploring the Bay Area in her free time.
