Fontane is a seasoned researcher and strategist, deeply committed to using data to improve the systems that serve poor and marginalized communities. She brings a strong mixed-methods approach to her work, as well as the creativity and flexibility to help social sector organizations adapt in dynamic contexts. At Harder+Company, Fontane has led a broad range of projects—evaluating community-level and national-scale efforts, developing products that speak to a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders, and collaborating with a breadth of clients including philanthropic organizations, local government agencies, and nonprofits. Fontane’s rich experiences in the field, combined with her strong analytical skills, have honed her eye for uncovering deep insights and practical recommendations in service of clients and the communities they serve. In her role on Harder+Company’s Technical Insight and Quality Assurance team, she also supports projects companywide on evaluation design, data collection and management.
Prior to joining Harder+Company in 2009, Fontane worked on projects with the Public Policy Institute of California, REDF, and the Human Services Agency of San Francisco. She also served as an economic analyst at Charles River Associates. Fontane believes in supporting the next generation of researchers, and has hosted interns at Harder+Company at the high school and graduate levels. On the weekends, you’ll find Fontane and her husband chasing their two young children (both boys!) in Davis, California.
